Couple Just Won The Lottery TWICE!

Angelina and Edward Lado, who live in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, and who immigrated to Canada from South Sudan approximately 11 years before their first major lottery win, have won the lottery for the second time in eight years. Their most recent prize came from a $4 Set for Life scratch ticket that Angelina purchased, which delivered the game's top prize: a choice between $1,000 per week for 25 years or a lump-sum payment of $675,000. They chose the lump sum. Edward told reporters he thought Angelina was bluffing when she called to tell him they had won again. The couple's combined lottery winnings now stand at $3.175 million Canadian dollars across their two prizes, and they describe their approach to the money this time in simple, clear terms: much of it will go toward their children's education. The couple said they are not rushing into any decisions about how to spend the rest, drawing on the patience they exercised after their first win, when they also took time before acting.
Their first win, in 2018, was not simply a financial windfall. Angelina had purchased a Multi-Millionaire Scratch 'N Win ticket that turned out to be worth $2.5 million, setting a record at the time for the largest scratch-ticket prize ever awarded in Newfoundland and Labrador. When Edward claimed the prize, he said the money would allow him to search for his mother, whom he had not seen since he was an infant after being separated from her during the years of conflict in South Sudan. He has since been able to reconnect with her. The couple has continued purchasing lottery tickets modestly since their first win, treating it the same way many people do, for the small weekly anticipation rather than any expectation of repeating history. The Set for Life ticket that produced their second top prize was, in that sense, completely ordinary when Angelina bought it. Atlantic Lottery confirmed the win is only the second time the top prize in the Set for Life game has been claimed since the series launched earlier this year. Twice lucky, the Atlantic Lottery said when announcing the win, is exactly right. The couple says they may even be back one day to claim a third.
