Lollapalooza 2026 Was Four Days Of Pure Chaos And Magic: Here Are The Moments Everyone Is Still Talking About

Music Festival Concert Crowd

From July 30 to August 2, over 100,000 music fans poured into Grant Park in Chicago for Lollapalooza 2026, and the festival delivered one of its most memorable editions in years. Headliners Lorde, Charli XCX, Tate McRae, and Smashing Pumpkins anchored four days across nine stages, but the moments that broke the internet were the ones nobody saw coming. Lorde made her first Lolla appearance since 2017, closing opening night before welcoming surprise guest Charli XCX mid-set the following day for a live performance of "Girl, So Confusing" that sent clips spiraling instantly. Charli's own Friday headlining set was described by everyone who attended as one of the most electric hours of live music in the festival's history. Tate McRae closed out Sunday by dipping herself in gold during "Sports Car." The Smashing Pumpkins brought out Olivia Rodrigo, Yungblud, and former bandmate Melissa Auf der Maur for their headlining set.

History was also made in quieter ways. Filipino P-pop boy band SB19 became the first all-Filipino group to ever perform at Lollapalooza, playing to a massive crowd on opening day and debuting a brand new song live hours after releasing it. Slayyyter was bumped to a larger stage than originally scheduled after demand exceeded expectations. Beabadoobee pulled what Rolling Stone called one of the weekend's most confident sets. On Day Three, British headliner Olivia Dean stopped mid-show to pay tribute to her Jamaican-Guyanese heritage and deliver an emotional speech for immigrants that the crowd received with a standing ovation. Rain delayed parts of Saturday and forced some sets to be cut short. Nobody seemed to mind. The sun came back out. The music kept going.
