Missing Pup Reunited After 8 Months

In November 2025, a stray dog with a badly cut leg was brought into Animal Friends Humane Society in Hamilton, Ohio. The shelter staff treated his wound, gave him a foster stay while he recovered, and then brought him back to the shelter when the foster period ended. They named him Flash. He waited there for approximately 220 days, well-cared for, popular with staff, but without a known history and without anyone coming to claim him. Then the shelter team shared his photo on social media as part of their regular adoption outreach, and a message arrived that stopped everyone in their tracks. A man wrote in saying that he thought the dog in that photo was his missing dog. He was right. Flash was Timber. The two were reunited shortly after the message came in.
Animal Friends Humane Society shared what happened next in a statement that the internet passed around with considerable emotion: the second Timber saw his dad, that little nub tail was wagging a hundred miles a minute, and there were happy tears, excited kisses, and a reunion none of them will ever forget. The story has a practical footnote that the shelter used to remind pet owners of something important: Timber was not microchipped, or his contact information was not current, which is why despite spending 250 days in a shelter just looking for the right person to see his photo, it took eight months for his owner to find him. Microchipping a pet and keeping that microchip registration up to date with a current phone number and address is, as shelter staff noted, the single most reliable way to ensure that a reunion like this one happens in days rather than months. Timber is home. The shelter staff, who had cared for him through a long winter and into the summer, said they were grateful to have been part of the story and even more grateful to be able to close it the way it closed.
