A Wyoming Pizza Place Got Pranked With An 18-Pie Order So The Owner Delivered It All To The ER

Pizza donation hospital Wyoming

L'Osteria Mondello in Cheyenne, Wyoming was already having a hectic Friday afternoon on August 14 when a large order came in for 18 pizzas. The kitchen, which was simultaneously working through two other large orders, one for 12 or 13 pies and another for seven or eight, briefly stopped taking new orders and warned customers they were facing wait times of up to two hours. Owner Dave Agovic described having over 40 pizzas going at the same time. His staff pushed through and had all 18 ready in about 40 minutes. Then they waited for the customer to arrive. Nobody came. Agovic called the phone number on the order. The person who answered had no idea what he was talking about. The 18 pizzas, which totaled around $300, were sitting in the kitchen with nowhere to go. Rather than letting them go to waste, Agovic turned to his staff and asked what they should do. Someone suggested the hospital.

As Agovic was working out how to get 18 pizzas to the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center Emergency Room, a former employee named Ryan Lemley walked through the door. Lemley, 18, had worked at L'Osteria Mondello for more than two and a half years before moving on. He heard what had happened, immediately volunteered to help, loaded up all 18 pizzas, and drove them to the ER. Agovic later called him my hero that day. Hospital staff received the unexpected delivery, and L'Osteria Mondello posted about it on Facebook alongside photos of the pizzas, the staff, and the hospital team. Their caption described it as a little frustrating situation that turned into a good deed, and expressed hope that the pizzas helped make someone's night a little better. The post spread quickly, with people responding to the story of a kitchen that worked through a chaotic afternoon on a fake order and chose to send the results to the people who needed them most. Ryan Lemley, who showed up at exactly the right moment to drive 18 pizzas across Cheyenne, seems to feel the same way.
