John Cena Just Became A Guinness World Records ICON.

The champ is here and now it is official. Guinness World Records has awarded John Cena its coveted ICON status, recognizing a career so extraordinary across wrestling, film, television, charity, and music that it defies easy categorization. The induction will be celebrated in the Guinness World Records 2027 book this September, but the records themselves tell the story right now. Between 2002 and 2025, Cena won the most WWE Championship titles of any male wrestler in history, securing his record-breaking 17th title by defeating Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas in April 2025. He previously shared the record with Ric Flair at 16. He also holds the record for the longest WWE face run before turning heel, spending 22 years and 247 days as wrestling's beloved good guy before shocking fans by turning villain at the instruction of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in March 2025. Outside the ring, Cena holds the record for most wishes granted through the Make-A-Wish Foundation with 650 wishes fulfilled. "If you ever need me for this ever, I don't care what I'm doing," he told Reuters. "I will drop what I'm doing and be involved."
The ICON designation recognizes that Cena's legacy stretches far beyond wrestling. Since his 2006 film debut in The Marine, he has become a genuine Hollywood star via The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker, and Greta Gerwig's Barbie, the highest-grossing film by a female director at $1.447 billion. He published the No. 1 New York Times bestselling children's book Elbow Grease in 2018 and dropped a debut album in 2005. He is 49 years old. His mantra throughout has been four words: hustle, loyalty, respect. The Guinness World Records book, it turns out, agrees.
