Man Washes Windows For Free And It's Saving KC Restaurants

Davis Roethler walks into a restaurant like any other customer, orders something from the menu, and eats his meal. Then he offers to clean the windows for free, puts on a pair of Meta smart glasses, and spends the next several hours turning the owner's story into a video that could change their business forever. Roethler is the co-owner of Window Wolf, a Kansas City home services company that has built its brand around a simple idea: while other window cleaners are competing on price, Window Wolf is competing on community. Since launching its social media content in October of 2025, the company has visited over a dozen small businesses across the Kansas City metro area, accumulated more than 8,000 followers across TikTok and Instagram, and produced videos that have racked up hundreds of thousands of views, including one featuring Tasty African Food KC in Overland Park that reached over 100,000 views on its own. Roethler invests five to eight hours editing each video because, as he puts it, for some of these businesses it might be their one shot at a viral moment.
What separates Roethler from most food influencers is where he points the camera: not at himself eating but at the owner, letting the person behind the restaurant tell their own story directly to an audience they never had before. After his visit to Dunn Deal BBQ in Grandview, a video featuring owner Gerald Dunn reached 70,000 views on Instagram and sent lines wrapping around the block for the barbecue and banana pudding. The restaurant directly next door, Simply Grand Kitchen and Creamery, saw the same effect after their own Window Wolf feature: so many people arrived that the kitchen ran out of food. Roethler started the concept in 2023 after noticing that a beloved local coffee shop had wonderful products and terrible social media visibility, and that the gap between the two was fixable. Window Wolf can be found on TikTok and Instagram at windowwolfkc, and Roethler says that no matter how large the platform grows, the mission stays the same: help small businesses tell their story before they become a statistic.
