National Burger Day World Records Will Blow Your Mind

May 28th was National Burger Day, and Guinness World Records marked the occasion with a full roundup of the most jaw-dropping burger achievements ever recorded. The most expensive burger on earth is The Golden Boy at Daltons restaurant in the Netherlands, a creation by chef Robbert Jan De Veen that costs 5,000 euros. The bun is wrapped in gold leaf, the patty is Japanese Wagyu brisket and chuck short rib, and it is topped with beluga caviar, vintage Iberico ham, Alaskan king crab, white truffle shavings, and a barbecue sauce made from single-malt whisky and civet cat coffee. The largest hamburger ever made weighed 1,164.2 kg and was assembled by six German chefs in Pilsting, Germany in 2017, roughly the same weight as an adult walrus. The largest commercially available burger weighs 777 pounds and is served at Juicys Outlaw Grill in Oregon for $5,000 with 48 hours notice. MrBeast holds the record for largest vegetarian burger at 4,612 pounds, built with 42 friends.
The human achievement records are just as remarkable. Donald Gorske of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin has eaten 35,000 Big Macs since his first in 1974, holding the record for most Big Macs in a lifetime. He is 70 years old and still going. On the speed side, Rix Terabite of the Philippines ate five hamburgers in one minute in 2016. And the most moving record belongs to Andy Reid MBE, a triple amputee who lost both legs and his right arm in Afghanistan, and still carried a burger 5,895 meters up Mount Kilimanjaro in 2022, setting the record for highest altitude burger delivery on land. Every day is Burger Day when the stories are this good.
