The 2026 Met Gala Was Absolutely Iconic, Here Are Some Of The Best Moments

Fashion’s biggest night delivered. The 2026 Met Gala themed “Costume Art,” with a dress code of “Fashion Is Art” took over the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday night, and the looks, surprises, and sheer spectacle did not disappoint. The undisputed headline of the evening was Beyoncé, who returned to the Met Gala red carpet for the first time in a decade as a co-chair, arriving in a diamond-encrusted skeletal gown by Olivier Rousteing, paired with a feathered cape and bone-inspired crown. She brought husband Jay-Z in Louis Vuitton and 14-year-old daughter Blue Ivy in all-white Balenciaga with pearls and shades — Blue Ivy’s very first Met Gala. “It feels incredible to be able to share it with her,” Beyoncé told Vogue. Co-chairs Venus Williams and Nicole Kidman were equally stunning with Williams in a Swarovski crystal gown inspired by a National Portrait Gallery portrait of herself, Kidman in a green feathered number that had photographers losing their minds.

Then came the wild ones. Sabrina Carpenter arrived in a dress made of literal film strips from the 1954 film Sabrina. Bad Bunny was virtually unrecognizable after transforming “53 years” into the future with prosthetics and silver makeup. Lisa of BLACKPINK wore a Robert Wun gown with extra pairs of arms holding a billowing white veil. Margot Robbie stunned in a golden Chanel gown that took 761 hours to craft. Blake Lively made a surprise return, her first since 2022, just hours after settling her explosive legal battle with director Justin Baldoni. Rihanna, as is tradition, closed out the carpet in a draped metallic Maison Margiela look alongside A$AP Rocky then pointed everyone to the only afterparty worth attending: Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s.
