The Avengers Doomsday Trailer Dropped And May Be The Most Anticipated Film Of 2026

2026 has already been a remarkable year for movies. YouTuber-directed films Obsession (made for $750,000, now past $400 million worldwide) and Backrooms ($349 million globally) rewrote the rules on who gets to make a blockbuster. Toy Story 5 opened to $312 million. Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey looms. It has been a genuinely great summer at the movies. And now, arriving on December 18, comes the one Marvel fans have been waiting seven years for. The first full trailer for Avengers: Doomsday dropped on July 20, 2026, and the response was immediate and overwhelming. The trailer surpassed one million views on YouTube in under an hour. Prior teasers for the film had already accumulated over 1.02 billion combined views across platforms, making the Doomsday marketing campaign the most-watched in Marvel history. On X, #AvengersDoomsday trended globally within minutes.
The reason the anticipation is so extreme is simple: Avengers: Endgame came out in 2019 and was, by any measure, a genuine cultural ending. Doomsday changes that. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who also made Infinity War and Endgame, the film brings back Robert Downey Jr. as the villain Doctor Doom, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, and Ian McKellen as Magneto. The X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and the Avengers are all in one film together for the first time. Tickets for premium Infinity Vision theaters went on sale the same day the trailer dropped. For anyone who has been waiting since 2019 for the Avengers to feel like the Avengers again, December cannot come fast enough. Check out the trailer below!
