The World's First Official Pokémon Airport Opening In Japan

On July 7, 2026, a real working airport in Japan will officially become the world's first Pokémon-branded airport, and the story behind it is as heartwarming as the concept itself. Noto Satoyama Airport in Japan, will relaunch as "Noto Satoyama Pokémon With You Airport" as part of a partnership between Ishikawa Prefecture and the Pokémon With You Foundation. The rebranding, scheduled to run through September 30, 2029, was designed specifically to help revitalize tourism and support regional recovery following the devastating 2024 Noto Peninsula earthquake, one of Japan's most destructive natural disasters in recent years. It also coincides with Pokémon's 30th anniversary celebrations. The transformation will be total: all 111 Flying-type Pokémon discovered as of 2026 will appear throughout the terminal in murals, installations, and interactive displays, anchored by a giant Pikachu-and-airplane balloon in the central atrium. A rooftop observation area called "Pikachu's Village," inspired by the satoyama rural landscapes surrounding the airport, will give visitors sweeping views of the region from a Pokémon-themed outdoor space.
The experience extends well beyond the terminal itself. Pokémon-themed buses will begin operating across the Noto Peninsula this summer, connecting visitors to attractions throughout the region. Inside, the airport will feature exclusive short films. Themed food from Restaurant Annon, exclusive merchandise from the terminal gift shop, and Pokémon travel installations throughout the building round out one of the most joyful airport redesigns in history. Japan has long been the spiritual home of Pokémon and now, for at least three years, it will literally have the airport to prove it.
