This July 4th Is The Most Epic One In A Generation!

On July 4, 2026, the United States of America turns 250 years old. Two and a half centuries since 56 men signed a single sheet of parchment in Philadelphia and launched the greatest democratic experiment in human history. And the country is celebrating in style. In New York Harbor, 60 ships from 30 nations have gathered for Sail250, the largest maritime gathering in US history, filling the water between the Statue of Liberty and Lower Manhattan with tall ships, military vessels, and historic sail craft. In Philadelphia, a national time capsule is being buried at Independence Mall today, sealed to be opened by Americans on the 300th anniversary in 2076. Across all 50 states, parades, concerts, fireworks, and festivals are marking what organizers call the most ambitious national birthday celebration since the Bicentennial in 1976. And rolling across the country, the world's largest operating steam locomotive, Union Pacific's Big Boy No. 4014, a 1.2-million-pound engine built in 1941, is making a cross-country 250th anniversary journey, stopping along the way for Americans to climb aboard a piece of history.
The milestone invites reflection on how much has happened in 250 years. The nation that began with 2.5 million people in 13 colonies now has more than 335 million across 50 states. The Declaration of Independence took 5 weeks to reach the furthest colony by horseback. Today, news of a 250th birthday travels at the speed of light. George Washington led the Continental Army through six years of war to make this day possible and never got to see what America became. But today, everywhere you look, you can see what he was fighting for. Happy birthday, America. You have earned it.
