This Pumpkin Just Made World Record History!

Rhode Island grower Ron Wallace has just grown the first pumpkin ever to top 3,000 pounds. Guinness World Records confirmed that his giant pumpkin weighed 3,156 pounds, a brand new world record. It is the first time any pumpkin has passed that big round number. Even better, Ron Wallace broke a record that had been set only a week earlier by British grower Ian Paton, whose pumpkin weighed nearly 2,857 pounds.

Here is the part that makes everyone smile. Guinness says this one pumpkin could make more than 3,000 pies. Just imagine the fall dessert table that would fill! This is not the first time Wallace has made pumpkin history, either. He also grew the first pumpkin over 1,500 pounds back in 2006. Then in 2012, he grew the first one over 2,000 pounds. Now he has added the first over 3,000 pounds to the list. A record holder one week can be topped the next, and the friendly race between growers keeps getting bigger. It is a cheerful reminder that patience, care, and a little garden magic can grow something truly extraordinary, one season at a time.
