A Little Girl Lost Her Teddy Bear At A Four Seasons In Sicily. The Hotel Gave It A Vacation

A young girl named Julia was staying with her family at the Four Seasons San Domenico Palace in Taormina, Sicily, and had brought along her beloved stuffed animal, Rosie, who joins her on every trip she takes. After the family checked out and left the hotel, they realized Rosie was nowhere to be found. It appeared the toy had been accidentally swept up with the bedding by housekeeping and left behind. Julia contacted the hotel, explained what had happened, and sent a photograph of Rosie in the hope that somebody might be able to track her down. There was understandable concern about what might have happened to the stuffed animal, including whether she had been through an industrial washing cycle or simply thrown away. Neither turned out to be the case. Hotel staff found Rosie, and rather than simply boxing her up and putting her in the mail, they decided to make her unplanned extra days in Sicily look as luxurious as possible. Photographs shared by the hotel showed Rosie beside the pool, sitting at the bar, and relaxing in bed like a genuine VIP guest.

Julia's sister documented the gesture on TikTok, where the post went viral and was viewed by millions of people. The hotel then went one step further. When Rosie was finally sent home, staff covered the shipping costs and included a heartfelt letter written from Rosie's perspective. Dear my special friend, it began. When we got separated at the beautiful San Domenico Palace, I was a little worried at first, but the kind people at the hotel took very good care of me while I waited for you. The letter went on to describe Rosie's adventure in cheerful detail: sunny mornings, relaxing by the pool, delicious breakfasts, and exploring the hotel's lovely corners. I even pretended I was a very important guest for a few days, she wrote. Then came the final line, which is the one people have been quoting since the video spread. P.S. The San Domenico Palace was lovely, but my favorite place in the whole world is right beside you. Rosie is now safely home with Julia, where, by the hotel's own account, she always wanted to be.
