Walmart Just Cut Prices On Thousands Of Items

Walmart has announced price cuts on thousands of products across its stores and Sam's Club locations, on Walmart.com and through both apps — and some of the reductions are significant. Fresh sweet corn is now just $0.25 per ear, down from $0.68, a 63% cut. Fresh red cherries dropped 50% to $5.63 for a 2.25 lb bag. Coca-Cola, Diet Coke and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar 24-packs are now $9.97, down from $14.97, a 33% reduction. Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Dr. Pepper and Diet Mountain Dew 24-packs dropped to $9.97 from $13.97. Ground beef fell 12% to $5.94 per pound. Great Value ice cream is now $2.50, down from $2.97. Lay's Classic chips dropped to $2.50. The cuts also extend to household items including grills, sunscreen and lawn mowers. Walmart described the reductions as part of its ongoing strategy of emphasizing low prices and affordability for seasonal summer items.
The price cuts are available in Walmart and Sam's Club stores nationwide, as well as online through both retailers' websites and apps, and went into effect last week. The reductions apply to a broad range of summer groceries and household goods, making this one of the more sweeping rounds of cuts the retail giant has announced in recent memory. For families doing their summer shopping, the timing is welcome — particularly on staples like beef, soda, corn, cherries and ice cream that tend to see the highest demand between July 4th and Labor Day. The full list of reduced items is available on Walmart.com and the Walmart app.
